VHF Radio Votes Due By February 7

By now I imagine everyone reading this has been contacted by their fleet captain regarding the vote on whether to allow VHF radios on board during racing. For those who would like to learn more you can go to fssa.com (http://www.fssa.com/content/proposed-change-class-spec-s-v7-vhf-radios)

or to our very own Eric Bussell's Fleet 135 website: https://www.rebelmouse.com/fleet135/

There you will find a short interview he did with Ben about the pros and cons and a few more details.

Remember, you must be an FSSA member to vote! It's easy to pay your membership. You can do it on line: http://www.fssa.com/join
Or by calling Courtney Waldrup at 800-445-8629.

Okay, that's all for now. We've got three inches of snow and 15 degrees. I imagine most of you in our district are suffering even colder temperatures. Stay warm! Dream of sailing!

Feeling Winter Blues? Start Planning Your Sailing Season Now!

Got a touch of cabin fever? Feeling like winter will never end? Start planning your sailing season and it'll seem like it's just around the corner!

We have news of Midwest District events that you can put on your calendar right now. Most important is the Midwest Districts, which will be hosted this year by Fleet #3, Sheridan Shores Yacht Club in Wilmette, Ill., June 27-29.

Ben and I participated in their Race Weekend last summer and let me tell you, they know how to throw a regatta party! Plus the sailing was great (really windy....) and the view of the Chicago skyline was breathtaking, though that also could have just been me trying to catch my breath during the racing!

Don't forget to nominate your club's regatta for this year's Midwest District Travel Trophy. Last year participating regattas were Districts (Eagle Creek), Race Weekend (Sheridan Shores), Ephraim, Carlyle's Egyptian Cup and Glow in the Dark (Clinton).

I'll post about other upcoming regattas shortly.
